In
the Late Song Dynasty (960-1279) and early Yuan
Dynasty (1271-1368), there was then a huge rock
with a natural cavern on the beach, which sounded
like drums thundering when sea waves lashed against
it. The rock was therefore named "Gulang
Shi", meaning the rock of thundering drums,
so is the name of the Gulang islet.
Gulang
Shi, the symbol of Gulang, stands in front of
the hotel.
The
Gulang Villa Hotel is situated on the picturesque
Gulang islet, designed in the run of the hill.
