The
Grand Hotel Beijing is a magnificent former palace
which has been transformed into a 5-star hotel.Located
on a small street in the city, this crimson colored
building almost appears from nowhere as you drive
down the road. The traditional design contrasts
dramatically with the modern look developing elsewhere
in the city. The hotel enjoys an exceptional location.
It overlooks the Forbidden City and also has great
views of Beijing's biggest avenue, Chang'an Avenue
where the hustle and bustle of the street reflects
the cosmopolitan nature of the city.
The
Grand Hotel Beijing is superbly located on Beijing's
main thoroughfare, East Chang'an Avenue. It lies
just several minutes walking distance from Tiananmen
Square and the Forbidden City. Wangfujing, currently
being re-developed as the capital's premier shopping
district, is only a couple of minutes walking
to the east. The Beijing Railway station is only
10-minutes away by car, while the new West Railway
Station is 30-minutes away.
Much
of the hotel is decorated in the old Chinese style.
And its not difficult to imagine what life must
have been like for the Emperors when you are staying
in this elegant place. The rooms here are all
furnished to the highest standards.
