About Tourism Western Australia
Tourism Western Australia is a State Government statutory authority and part of the broader economic development portfolio of the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport.
Tourism WA is responsible for promoting Western Australia as a holiday destination. Its focus is on marketing the State; developing, attracting and promoting major sporting, cultural and business events; and supporting the development of significant tourism infrastructure and projects.
Position 1: Partnership Marketing Manager
Location: Shanghai
About the Roles
As the Partnership Marketing Manager in Shanghai, you will be responsible for increasing destination awareness and consumers’ knowledge about Western Australia by partnership marketing programs including digital, social, public relations, events promotion and brand partnership.
Key Responsibilities
Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
-Proactively seek cooperation with airlines, OTA, major Chinese consumer brands, and travel agencies. Launch joint campaigns to expand Western Australia's tourism reach
-Communicate and consult with internal and external stakeholders on Tourism WA marketing activity
-Work with Tourism Australia to incorporate Tourism WA’s message and iconic experiences into Tourism Australia’s marketing activities
-Develop partnerships with key members of the tourism industry, government agencies and non-tourism industry that will lead to more effective promotion of Western Australia and our brand
Consumer Communication
-Develop and implement consumer communication programs including social media, public relations, digital, consumer show and brand cooperative agreements
-Manage the promotion of Western Australia, in a manner consistent with our brand positioning and iconic experiences, at consumer and trade shows and selected events sponsored by Tourism WA
-Develop, implement and escort media/key opinion leaders (KOL) familiarization program
Management of Tourism WA Brands
-Manage and localize all aspects of Tourism WA Brands in China, including campaigns, templates and ongoing development
-Manage the development of creative and highly motivational promotional material
-Direct and guide the use of appropriate images and footage that are consistent with our brand, for any promotional use within China
Teamwork
-Work with Country Manager China to monitor and review performance of activities
-Work collaboratively to ensure Tourism WA’s goals and outcomes are achieved
Other
-Report on the creation, delivery and effectiveness of consumer marketing activities, ensuring the budget is effectively managed for each project in liaison with the Country Manager
-Undertakes other duties as required
Experience
Minimum 8 - 10 years of relevant work experience
Knowledge & Key Skills:
A highly proactive and self-motivated team player, capable of excelling both independently and collaboratively.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage diverse audiences.
Strong interpersonal skills
Requirements
Significant experience in managing tourism brands and partnership campaigns in China
Creative flair and experience in consumer communication campaigns (PR, social media, etc.)
Knowledge and experience in the travel and tourism industry in Greater China
Understanding of Australia and its tourism offerings
Knowledge of Western Australian tourism products and experiences
Experience developing and executing successful marketing/business development campaigns
Experience working with government tourism boards
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Willingness to undertake frequent domestic and international travel
Proficiency in English (both written and verbal)
Based in China and have Chinese citizenship
Position 2: Business Development Manager
Location: Guangzhou
About the Roles
As the Business Development Manager in Guangzhou, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a marketing plan to deliver against agreed visitation and yield targets for Western Australia from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development
-Work with the TWA Greater China team to grow visitation from Greater China in partnership with Chinese airlines and trade partners
-Increase the Western Australian presence in multi-destination itineraries and promote Western Australia as a destination in its own right
-Develop sellable tour packages for special interest segments by working with trade partners
-Organize trade familiarization tours for trade partners
-Undertake cooperative trade marketing campaigns to increase awareness of Western Australian packages
-Educate the travel trade through seminars, sales calls and functions
-Develop marketing opportunities for Western Australian industry partners
-Maintain a prominent and positive presence in the travel and tourism industry through regular liaison with key people
-Increase the number of FIT packages available in market by working with retail travel agents
-Work with Tourism Australia via the Aussie Specialist Program and Key Destination Partners to identify specific trade partners to target for training, cooperative marketing efforts and familiarizations
-Provide a consultative service to the Western Australian industry including participation in meetings, presentations and providing formal written reports as required
-Ensure all activities are delivered within agreed budget
Leadership and Teamwork
-Work with Country Manager Greater China to monitor and review performance of activities to ensure achievement of departmental goals
-Work with other members of the China team and wider TWA team to ensure the team performance supports TWA’s strategic goals and outcomes
Administration
-Report on the creation, delivery and effectiveness of marketing activities, ensuring the budget is effectively managed for each project in liaison with the Country Manager
Experience
Minimum 8 - 10 years of relevant work experience
Knowledge & Key Skills:
A highly proactive and self-motivated team player, capable of excelling both independently and collaboratively.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage diverse audiences.
Strong interpersonal skills an extensive network of established connections within the tourism industry
Requirements
Proficiency in verbal Cantonese
Experience in trade marketing and business development
Knowledge and experience in the travel and tourism industry in Greater China
Understanding of Australia and its tourism offerings
Knowledge of Western Australian tourism products and experiences
Experience developing and executing successful marketing/business development campaigns
Experience working with government tourism boards
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Willingness to undertake frequent domestic and international travel
Proficiency in English (both written and verbal)
Based in China and have Chinese citizenship
